The storey behind Luno

Luno was created from personal experience, professional
understanding, and a growing realisation that the air inside our homes can
quietly affect health especially for children.

For many families, indoor air quality isn’t something they
ever think about, until it starts to impact breathing, sleep, or wellbeing.

Where it began

Luno was founded by Daniel Wells, a health and safety
professional and father.

When Daniel’s daughter, Kate, was born, she experienced
asthma related breathing difficulties. Like many parents, Daniel focused on the
most obvious and visible solutions medication, cleaning routines, bedding, and
general home hygiene.

What wasn’t immediately obvious was the role indoor air
quality can play in respiratory health, particularly for newborns and young
children whose lungs are still developing.

At the same time, Daniel was working professionally in
health and safety, helping organisations identify risks that people often can’t
see and put effective controls in place to reduce harm.

That combination led to a simple but important realisation:

Poor indoor air is an invisible risk in many homes and
families are rarely given clear, practical guidance on how to address it.

An invisible problem in modern homes

Modern homes are designed to be energy efficient and well
sealed. While this helps retain heat, it can also allow airborne pollutants to
build up indoors.

Everyday activities such as cooking, cleaning, heating,
burning candles, and bringing pollution in from outside can contribute to poor
indoor air quality. Dust, allergens, fine particles and other pollutants can
remain suspended in the air particularly in bedrooms and living spaces where
families spend most of their time.

For children with asthma, allergies or sensitive airways,
this can quietly affect:

  • Breathing
    comfort
  • Sleep
    quality
  • Concentration
    and overall wellbeing

Yet indoor air quality is rarely discussed in a clear or
accessible way.

A health & safety mindset applied at home

Luno is built on the same principles Daniel has applied
throughout his career in health and safety:

  • Identify
    the risk
  • Understand
    the exposure
  • Put
    practical controls in place

Indoor air pollution may be invisible, but it can still be
managed when the right steps are taken. This doesn’t mean fear, panic or
extreme measures it means awareness, education and sensible solutions.

Luno exists to bring this practical, professional mindset
into everyday homes.

Why Luno was created

Luno was created to help families better understand indoor
air quality and take meaningful steps to improve it.

The aim is not to overcomplicate the issue or overwhelm
people with technical language. It’s to make indoor air quality easier to
understand, easier to manage, and easier to improve particularly in spaces
where children sleep, play and grow.

Why Luno is different

Luno is not a lifestyle brand, a trend, or a gadget driven
business.

It was created with one clear purpose: to help
families create cleaner, healthier indoor air in a way that is simple, reliable
and effective.

Luno air purifiers are selected for:

  • Strong
    air cleaning performance
  • Quiet
    operation, especially at night
  • Suitability
    for real family living spaces
  • Reliability
    and ease of use

Unnecessary features and gimmicks are avoided in favour of
doing one job properly.

Education before selling

Education is a core part of Luno’s mission.

Many people are unaware that:

  • Indoor
air can be more polluted than outdoor air
  • Poor
air quality can affect sleep and respiratory health
  • Ventilation
alone isn’t always enough in modern homes

Luno aims to share clear, honest information so families can
make informed decisions whether that leads to a Luno product or not.

The goal is understanding and empowerment, not pressure.

The meaning behind the name

The name Luno was inspired by Daniel’s daughter and the
world of childhood.

As a child, her favourite television character was Luna, the
moon a symbol often associated with calm, comfort and nighttime routines. That
influence shaped the name Luno, reflecting the sense of care, reassurance and
protection that the brand stands for.

It serves as a reminder of who Luno exists to help families,
and especially children.

A personal promise

Luno is personal.

If you’re considering a Luno air purifier and have
questions, you’re always welcome to ask. If you need guidance around indoor air
quality, Luno will help where possible even if that advice doesn’t lead to a
purchase.

This brand wasn’t built to chase trends or quick sales. It
was built to help families breathe easier.
